”A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.”

This girl is still smiling, even after her first major mishap knocked her front tooth clean up into her gum and bone. Yep, it makes me cringe too. I cried about it for a solid day, weighed down by the mommy guilt…what could I have done to prevent it? The answer is, nothing. Accidents will happen, especially with toddlers, and I had to accept that fact and move on, which was easier thanks to all of the support on instagram. It makes for a great story (focusing on the positive), and oddly seems to fit with her personality…tenancious + wild, although always a lady. A lady who is missing a tooth.

Notes

  1. Same thing happened to my son when he was three. This was just before we found out he needed glasses. It took me a day or two to get over the tragedy of it all and then I realized he was the cutest lil guy around! He’s 16 now and still has a very unique sense of style.

    • thanks for sharing Tonja…yeah it took me a few days to get over it!
