epiphany

jack-dixon-quote

As the title suggests, I recently had an epiphany. And ok fine, this title might also refer to the French holiday which falls on the first Sunday of the New Year (I’ll do anything to tie in my Francophilia). I came across this quote on Pinterest the other day, and even though it’s a very simple concept, something just clicked. I’ve been focusing so intensely on results for so many years, that my efforts towards long term change have been almost entirely in vain. This relates to many aspects of life of course – I’m sure we can all relate to it. I’m determined to make 2015 a triumphant one. Small steps towards big change…it seems that’s how all growth occurs. How do you relate to this quote, and what are you focused on this year?

Notes

  1. This is such an important reminder. It’s about the road to making those small but meaningful changes and how they make you feel. I’m on the same train, we can do it !

  2. It seems really hard to focus more on change than results, hah! Like you, I’ve always been more focused on results. This year, I just want to focus on being happy and allowing myself to be.

  3. Great quote! I really wanted to keep that in mind setting resolutions this year. I think the important thing is to take your time with your goals, and make realistic changes to your lifestyle that will last. Like if you want to lose weight and do a fad diet to get there, you’ll fall back into your old habits. If you take the time to change your lifestyle, those results would hopefully be lasting.

  4. Such a great point. It’s the journey, not the destination. Love the concept behind looking inward for change and having growth happen organically versus trying to force an outcome you’re hoping for. It’s a whole other perspective on achievement and I love that it emphasizes incremental improvement as opposed to one overall goal.
