P stands for…Poilâne! I find myself at this amazing bakery (first opened in 1932) whenever I’m in Paris. They are most famously known for their round, sourdough country bread – miche or pain poilâne, with their signature “p” carved into the top. Their flagship shop (shown here) is in Saint-Germain des Prés, but they also have locations in the 3rd + 15th, as well as in London! Why not visit them all…and be sure to try the Viennese pastries as well. Check out this fascinating video featuring the late Lionel Poilâne himself, as well as this beautiful video detailing their bread-making process.

Notes

  1. I love small town life, but I am SO missing good bread found in the city. Think I need to start baking….

    • ha yes…but there are also so many things in the country that cannot be found in the city, so… ;)

      thanks Steph!

  2. I used to live 5 minutes from Poilâne, and their apple tarts were a fun occasional Sunday treat. I had no idea they had expanded all the way to London! Maybe North America will be next :)

  3. I will certainly be putting this on my list for when I live in Paris next fall!! Lovely :-)

  4. This bread looks amazing! And my husband would be on board bc he loves sourdough. Thank you for sharing! Love picking up tips of where to visit next in Paris.
