summer scenes

m

Well, I was so spent after their woodland birthday, rainbow-themed zoom party with close friends + family and Bastille Day birthday (we essentially had three mini celebrations – don’t @ me I was just trying to keep things feeling special for the kids) that I forgot to post more of our summer scenes. Please pardon the randomness of these but I’d like to have them on the blog for posterity’s sake (I’ve taken pictures of them in the same spot for 8 years now). Our summer was amazing…they’re amazing…we’re alive and so damn lucky. This post is very 2020 and you know what? I’m ok with that.

winter at the lake

m

We just returned from a lovely long break in the Poconos, and mama nay made our winter wishes come true with the gift of a magical snowfall + frozen lake during our stay! Since we’ve had a mild season (hardly any snow) in our neck of the woods, we headed north to find some – thankfully this trip had been planned since last year. We got our fix of winter fun (and then some)…and stayed super cozy thanks to good friends of ours lending us their lake house. If you follow me on Instagram then you know a little bit about our trip (although I stayed mostly unplugged). It was truly a vacation-—pages replaced screens, the fire stayed stoked, and hardly anything was planned except for rest and relaxation.

a beautiful day in brooklyn

m

We decided it was time for another family adventure in Brooklyn, to include our new furry family member, Winni! I haven’t formally introduced her here, but you can see more on my Instagram highlights. The weather was gorgeous the day after my event, so we crossed the bridge over to Brooklyn and paid a visit to one of our favorite spots, Jane’s Carousel. It had been a while since we visited…take a look at the Steller story I created in 2015 – they were so little!! After a few turns on the carousel we walked along the waterfront, witnessed a proposal, visited our favorite playground, and had a few belly laughs over Winni trying to chase pigeons. She’s a great little traveler and we can’t wait for more family adventures!

Hasbrouck House in the fall

m

The weekend before my fortieth, I was joined by my bestie Angie for a weekend adventure in the Hudson Valley. I’m so lucky to have a friend that says “yes” without hesitation to the idea of a girls trip and is game for whatever my heart desires (love you Ang). We drove up together, had the most beautiful weather, and even caught some early fall color. I’d been wanting to stay at Hasbrouck House for some time, and we managed to snag the one + only “friend suite” on the estate (it’s geared towards couples and is super romantic if that’s what you’re looking for). Despite our lack of romance (although no shortage of love), the 18th century mansion was the perfect backdrop for exploring the area, and the accommodations were both chic and cozy. The staff is welcoming and goes out of their way to make sure your stay is relaxed (not sponsored, just sharing the love). We had a great time wandering around, and I’m sharing our itinerary!

lake reflections (part two)

lake-winnipesaukee

m

This summer was one for the books – it began with a trip to England + France and (essentially) ended here, in New Hampshire at Lake Winnipesaukee. Having spent almost all of my childhood summers here, it is a sacred place for me, and introducing it to my husband and children was absolutely priceless. I’ve been waiting for the right moment to share it with them – I wrote about my feelings in this post two years ago. I’m happy to report that it was worth the wait, our time with my extended family was wonderful and warm, and my feelings for Lake Winni remain unscathed.
