le papier studio silhouettes

untitled-13

I just received my first gift of the season – custom silhouettes of Henry and Marie, courtesy of Le Papier Studio! Silhouettes of the kids have been on my wish list since they were born, and so you can imagine my delight when founder Vana Chupp reached out about a holiday collaboration. Creating heirloom silhouettes is a craft, and she has perfected it, specializing in a modern approach. From personalized print + paper artwork to jewelry, each item is crafted with love, to be treasured for years to come. Children grow too quickly, so preserving this moment in time is so important to me. I’m excited to be partnering with Vana to offer one lucky winner a $100 credit to her shop – enter to win on Instagram!

November is a time “to gather”, to give thanks, to pause and savor the season. Fall is fleeting, and the holidays are fast approaching. This beautiful desktop wallpaper is designed by Lindsey Buck of The Hive Studio – we’ve been sharing a French word or phrase each month. Since Thanksgiving is an American holiday, this month was a bit tricky, but I feel this sentiment resonates worldwide, don’t you? While October is about much more than Halloween, you wouldn’t know it in our household – the kids started talking about their costumes in August! Just in case you don’t have toddlers gearing you up for the holiday, this month’s wallpaper should help. The spooktacular design (sorry I can’t help myself) is designed by Lindsey Buck of The Hive Studio. Each month we highlight a French word or phrase…see all the designs here, and download the latest:

habitus exhibit

untitled-1

We journeyed into the city today specifically to see this incredible exhibit by artist Ann Hamilton. I first learned of her work back in 2012, when she exhibited the event of a thread at the Park Avenue Armory in NYC. While we had the best intentions of getting there to see it for ourselves, we never made it, and I regret that intensely. This latest work, entitled habitus, refers to a condition or custom of dress but also to social patterns. It’s an immersive, engaging installation, and we were all delighted by it. The kids found so much joy in pulling and turning the curtains, which billowed to gigantic proportions. I found it to be simultaneously intimate and vast, and as with most of Ann’s work, mesmerizing.

September means it’s time for la rentrée, or “the return”, a French expression (and time of year) which I happen to love. The French know how to do summer (and really, life in general) right – it seems the entire country is on vacation, especially in August. This time of year brings certain rituals with it: mainly, getting back to work and school full-time. This beautiful desktop wallpaper designed by Lindsey Buck of The Hive Studio will help you to embrace it. Each month we highlight a French word or phrase…check out all the designs here.
