When we moved to the Philadelphia area, one of the first things we did was purchase tickets to a few performances at the Kimmel Center. They’ve all been amazing, but the French National Orchestra transported me to another place for two hours. The pieces by Debussy, Ravel, and Stravinsky were revolutionary in their time and are still so powerful and moving. The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts is celebrating France this month with many events, and an 81-foot homage to the Eiffel Tower. As we were leaving, the tower began to sparkle + shimmer, and had everyone at a standstill!

Thursday we’ll be doing a 180 with one of my favorites, Les Nubians!

mardi gras…

Nola

I've visited New Orleans three times in my adult life, but never during Mardi Gras, although I had my share of hot toddy's and various other forms of alcohol while visiting, so no judgement! I thought it would be fitting (and slightly ironic)  to write about this magnificent city on the actual day of the celebration, although my advice is to visit at any other time of year. The city has SO much to offer…including some of the best cuisine, music, architecture and history in our country.  Mr. Fleurishing and I hope to take a trip down there at some point, and I will be able to take in the city with him, through a new lens…literally and metaphorically.
