I am a mommy

DSC_0011

I am a mommy. It might not be to a human, but my heart is filled with love just the same. This little guy has taught me patience, selflessness, and unconditional love. I would do anything for him. When I am not with him it feels as if I forgot something. I stare at him for hours, and I never tire of his cuteness. We cuddle-he lays his head on my chest and falls asleep. He relies on me  for so much, and I plan my schedule around him. I stay up with him when he is sick, and it makes me feel ill myself when he is hurting. I take ten thousand photos of him and show them to anyone and everyone. I delight in his happiness and content. I excitedly await the day that I become a mother to a child (and Billy becomes a brother), but for now…this feels just the same. I am grateful for and cherish every moment we are given.

Notes

  1. I’m the same with my cat Cali! Nothing wrong with that. Though I think Billy might get upset if/when he is upstaged by someone else!

  2. Aw, sweet Lindsey…and yes, it will be a tough adjustment for me & him when a baby enters our lives! He is so great with babies and children though…he loves them!

  3. Aw, this was such a cute post! I know I feel exactly the same about Swarley. If anyone had overheard my delight at feeding the little munchkin watermelon yesterday without seeing who I was talking to they would have thought it was a baby I’m sure =) And I’m always saying to my husband how she “really is” the cutest dog ever, and I don’t just think that because she is mine, which is a total mom thing to do if there ever was one!

  4. I’m so glad that you found my blog and that now I’m able to find your blog in return! This post is fantastic and I feel the same about my companion animals (it surprised me when others don’t so I get extra happy to find out others DO.. like you)! I wrote something similar a while back about one of my kiddos: http://fourleafcloverblog.com/?p=435 : )

  5. Oh this is not helping me with my doggie lust! My daughter wants a dog so badly, and she’s not going to get a brother or sister so we want to do it, but we’re not sure it won’t cause a major problem when we go back to Canada for a month.

That is a fantastic photo, very original.

  6. Can I just tell you that I absolutely LOVE your posts about Billy! I have a little Yorkie and my heart fills with joy everytime I look at him, so I know just how you feel. Billy is adorable!! :)

  7. Your post brought tears to my eyes – it’s exactly how I feel about my Sammy, who is a morkie (maltese-yorkie cross) and light of my life. He’s taught me so much about love and loyalty. I’d do anything for him! – including incorporate him into my branding (he’s all of my site and blog if you ever wanted to see and introduce Billy to a new cyber-dog friend). x

  8. As Billy’s Grammy, I feel so much of what you say and I am lucky to be able to have special times with him.
