It’s hard to believe my baby boy is 11 years old…eleven!! He ages incredibly well, don’t you think?! I’m hoping I can follow his lead on that one. As usual, we were all much more excited about the event than he was, but the special organic cake mommy made him got his attention! The creative cake decoration credit goes entirely to daddy…nice job, eh?! While Grammy held him, we sang, lit the candles (made a wish for 11 more years), and enjoyed watching him devour a small piece. It was especially important for us to make a big deal this year, as we know next year will be a little crazier different…but he will always have a birthday celebration. And he will always be my ( and our) first baby.

happy birthday billy!!

Mr. Fleurishing and I finally rented The Adventures of Tintin…not only did we enjoy it, but memories came rushing back of my second trip to France. My brother has been a huge fan of the comic since childhood, and has quite an impressive collection. So, when visiting him in 2006, we combined a tour of Cheverny with the Tintin museum on the grounds! I was excited to learn that the beautiful chateau was the model for Captain Haddock’s country estate, and every time I see it in comic form I am reminded of the beauty. The museum is full of fun, with vignettes of Tintin’s desk, closet and costumes, storyboards, and a room that simulates a scary storm-we all really enjoyed it, and it is a great place to take children! My brother captured a favorite photo of my Mom and I on the grounds…it was a special day for everyone.

After too long of an absence, we are headed back to North Carolina for time with family and friends this weekend. Mr. Fleurishing and I are not from there originally, but both lived there (Charlotte) for the same number of years…and it's where we met! It holds a place in our heart for that reason, and for the family and friends that we left behind. We are looking forward to seeing everyone…bon weekend!!

My apologies for my absence this week, but I have been spending time with friends and family, and making the most of every day. I am feeling great but have this sense of urgency to get things done…I’m in major “nesting” mode! This weekend is filled with projects around the house, working on the nursery, and of course…quality time with mr. fleurishing and billy! Bon weekend tout le monde!
