Little Brown Pen was one of the first blogs I fell in love with. Capturing life beautifully and soulfully, Nichole Robertson’s writing and photography are an inspiration to me. We share a love of Paris, and butter. So, without further ado…her Proust questionnaire….and many thanks to Nichole for getting this off to a poignant start.

There is something very therapeutic for me about fabric sourcing. My Mom is a librarian, so I spent much of my time as a child in libraries-alphabetizing, organizing, and of course, reading. I feel fabric showrooms are a similar environment…quiet, educational, and inspirational. I have been spending time at the Marketplace Design Center in Philadelphia, where everything I need is in one building-it’s fabulous!  I’m doing what I love, and it feels great.

I became aware of Marcel Proust (French novelist and critic), in an indirect way via “Inside the Actors Studio”. At the end of each show, James Lipton questions the guest with an adapted version of the Proust questionnaire, which french television host Bernard Pivot made famous. The story of how it came about is a lengthy one, but it originated in 1885 + developed into a great template for interviewing. The Proust questionnaire will be a regular feature on my blog, and some of my favorite bloggers will be participating–stay tuned!
