health update…

I feel I should update you all about my health, and I hesitate to write this as I don't want it to seem like a pity party. Exactly one month ago today (ironic-just realized it) I wrote about my concerns, and I was "officially" diagnosed with fibromyalgia two weeks ago. After ruling out other things via blood testing and seeing a rheumatologist, it was confirmed. This might sound odd, but it came as a bit of a relief to me, as it explained so much that I had been dealing with, and made sense considering all of my symptoms. I am getting used to my "new" body, which isn't as energetic…I find myself struggling mostly with fatigue, which is common. I think once I get used to my new limitations and learn what level of excertion is healthy and comfortable for me, things will get easier. I am very thankful for my supportive family (especially my hubby) & friends, and all of you…your sweet comments & love mean so much.

Notes

  1. Is it hereditary? Anything that triggers it specifically? I hope you regain your energy and find ways to keep moving forward! Lots of love.

  2. I’m sorry Susan. You are a strong person and this too you shall overcome. I am always here for you should you ever need to talk. What are “long-distance” friends for?
    Hugs!
    :)

  3. thanks Lindsey…I do not believe it is hereditary, and no one on my side has it, but my chronic anxiety (since my teens) is, which is a major triggger of the syndrome…appreciate all your support! xo

hugs to you too Cailin xo!

  4. Sorry you’re having to deal with this girlie, but I can totally understand how you’d be relieved to find out what’s been causing your symptoms. I’ve been in a similar situation before. I know I already mentioned acupuncture to you. Have you had a chance to look into that at all? You also may want to see a homeopathic doctor and/or a naturopath (in edition, of course, to your medical doctors). I have found through personal experience and through doing a ton of research (when I too was trying to get pregnant) that food and diet can have a HUGE impact on symptoms. Hang in there lady! Thinking of you!

  5. Erin, thanks so much, and I am looking into the things you had suggested. I do believe food & diet can make an impact. I’m a little weirded out by acupuncture but I’m not ruling it out. ;)

  6. Sorry that you are going through this, but I have faith that you will pull through and “flourish.” Oh God, I really just went there…

In all seriousness though, thinking of you and wishing you well. xo.

  7. I think someone very close to me may have fibromyalgia. When I read a description someone wrote of their life, each part reminded me of someone I know who feels ill often. I hope you don’t have extreme symptoms as I know many do. Don’t give up.. I strongly believe that so much depends on our thinking and how we take care of our bodies. Thank you for the update and I’ll be sending good thoughts you way (more so than usual)!

  8. Susan the Beautiful, I am so sorry to hear you are feeling unwell. I adore your blog and hope you will keep us updated on your progress. Have fun in France and Belgium! I love Paris too!

  9. So sorry to hear about your health concerns. I KNOW you will be fine, you are a strong woman! My thoughts are with you.

  10. I am so sorry to read this Suzi! I hope you can find some relief soon… I also just found out about your dad. I am thinking of you very much.
