my mummies

My mummies…le sigh. I took full advantage of the fact that this might be the last year I can suggest their costumes, and thankfully, they were into the idea! These were a labor of love for me…while they weren’t difficult to make (this is not a DIY tutorial), with hardly any extra time (or sewing skills), it was a challenge. It only came together in the eleventh hour! Seriously – until this morning, I wasn’t even sure my vision would come to life (but it did…exhale). I took these photos right before we headed trick-or-treating (you can see that action on snapchat: hutchsusan). The one of them together laughing is my new favorite – Marie is so mature, always knowing when her brother could use a good laugh.

Just a few more…the north light in our loft is too good. I’m a junky for it, and Marie was more than happy to oblige my obsession. Henry, let’s just say, not so much…but he cooperated long enough for a few good ones (and he did have pants, ha – you’ll have to check out snapchat for proof of that). That’s really all you can ask of a three year old – Marie and Henry are exceptionally great with the camera. It helps that they’ve had a lens in their face since birth! Here are a few more costume details…all it takes is a variety of fabrics and textures, scissors, and some basic sewing skills (mine improved thanks to this project). Next year I hope to have a little more time, but they were happy, and therefore so was I!
