mes petits valentins

henry-et-marie

These two melt my heart on any given day, but this particular moment from Paris just about kills me. I’ve never shared it before, but it is one of our absolute favorites. We were going for a stroll after our lovely brunch at Ladurée and stopped to plan our route. This moment is completely candid, believe it or not. Thank goodness Ashley Ludaescher is such an amazing photographer – not only did she see it coming, but she captured it beautifully as well. Henry and Marie are my forever valentines, but it warms my heart to know that they are also each other’s. Forever and always, a beautiful love.

bon weekend

parchment-stars-caramels

I’m looking forward to quality time with family this weekend – after a week of both my husband and I traveling + the kids and I coming down with a killer cold, it’s much needed. Not to mention, it’s Valentine’s Day weekend! Not that we ever need an excuse to smother our loved ones with hugs and kisses, but this holiday makes it all sweeter, don’t you think? I photographed the treats you see above yesterday, after receiving the sweetest (pun intended) surprise package from my lovely friend Jill. She makes the most amazing caramels I’ve ever had in my life, no joke…and I may or may not be eating these caramels with my coffee this morning. As my Mom (and many others) always say…”life is short, eat dessert first”. After finishing this book this week, that sentiment couldn’t be felt any more heavily right now (and it’s a best seller for good reason). Hug your loved ones tightly, savor every day, and make someone feel extra special this weekend.

BON WEEKEND!

P stands for…Poilâne! I find myself at this amazing bakery (first opened in 1932) whenever I’m in Paris. They are most famously known for their round, sourdough country bread – miche or pain poilâne, with their signature “p” carved into the top. Their flagship shop (shown here) is in Saint-Germain des Prés, but they also have locations in the 3rd + 15th, as well as in London! Why not visit them all…and be sure to try the Viennese pastries as well. Check out this fascinating video featuring the late Lionel Poilâne himself, as well as this beautiful video detailing their bread-making process.

desktop fleurish | coup de foudre

Untitled-3

Let’s begin the month with a beautiful new desktop fleurish, shall we? In case you missed it, I kicked off 2016 with a monthly desktop wallpaper series…a collaboration with Lindsey Buck of The Hive Studio. I’m highlighting one of my favorite French phrases for February, although it applies year-round, in my opinion. Le coup de foudre figuratively means “love at first sight”, and represents feeling a sudden, intense passion (or getting struck by lightning, if we’re getting literal, ha). Passion comes in many forms…and I hope everyone experiences a coup de foudre at some point in their life–maybe a few, if you’re lucky. If anything, you should fall in love at first sight with these downloads…choose your preference!

trouvé magazine

trouve-magazine

Having admired (and  purchased) Trouvé Magazine since it’s inception, it’s a thrill to see my name in Volume 04. Trouvé literally means “to find” in French (of course I love it), and the publication is dedicated to the creative lifestyle and those who live it. The latest issue is focused on discovering, defining, and celebrating the creative process, and the pages are filled with inspiration. You can see my mention on page twelve in the “creativity found” directory, in very good company. The magazine also kindly featured this photo on their Instagram feed. I suggest a follow, a purchase, and a read!
