i am…

Iam

The Oprah interview with Tom Shadyac really opened my eyes…did you see it? They discussed issues that many of us have thought about or debated at times in our life, but in much greater depth. A successful Hollywood director, he found himself living the life culture directed him to live. Huge house, private jet, luxury galore. He then had a life changing realization…he wasn't any happier, and his heart felt empty. He gave up most of his material possessions and changed the way he lived in a drastic way. The intention of his documentary is to start the conversation, and to help us change the way we view, and live, our lives. To learn more visit his website…it is quite a powerful message, no matter what your beliefs are. Inspirational!

deux ans

Two years ago today, my greatest hope became a reality when I married my best friend. It was a beautiful spring day, and after just a few drops of rain during our garden ceremony, the sun beamed through the clouds. The French have a saying…”Mariage pluvieux, mariage heureux”. It means, “rainy wedding, happy marriage”. I would like to report that it is not a myth! Our love continues to grow…we never imagined we would be more in love now…it’s extraordinary.

When we moved to the Philadelphia area, one of the first things we did was purchase tickets to a few performances at the Kimmel Center. They’ve all been amazing, but the French National Orchestra transported me to another place for two hours. The pieces by Debussy, Ravel, and Stravinsky were revolutionary in their time and are still so powerful and moving. The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts is celebrating France this month with many events, and an 81-foot homage to the Eiffel Tower. As we were leaving, the tower began to sparkle + shimmer, and had everyone at a standstill!

Thursday we’ll be doing a 180 with one of my favorites, Les Nubians!

billy’s 10th birthday!

My furry soulmate is ten years old today, I can't believe it. It feels like yesterday when I made the trip to meet him, and held him in my arms for the first time. My life was forever changed, and I cannot imagine it without him. Mr. Fleurishing was never a "small dog" kind of guy, but he is now, and not just because he had to be (since billy was part of the package). He is OUR furry child…and the love we have for this little guy is immeasurable. Here's to immortality…

happy birthday billy!

paris day trips: mini chateaux

This Paris day trip is so much fun, whether you have children or if you are just obsessed with miniatures like I am!  Le Parc des Mini-Chateaux is located in Amboise, in the very beautiful Loire Valley region. With 45 scale reproductions of the areas finest castles, it is an excellent way to see so many, and learn some history along the way. I discovered some that I never would have known about otherwise. Not to mention the cute factor is off the charts, right?!
