Even though I have seen these in Anthropologie stores, I just recently learned more about the artist behind them. Leslie Oschmann, formerly the visual director for the store, moved to Holland to pursue her love of reclaimed objects, and the re-invention of them. She uses materials in unexpected and refreshing ways…linen on wood, silk on an oil painting, stitching on canvas. I love stories about people throwing caution to the wind and starting a new life somewhere…I believe I did that in a former life!

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful structures in France is Chenonceau. Situated on the River Cher in the Loire Valley, it is extremely picturesque. Built and re-built since the 11th century, the existing chateau was built in 1515. Henry II gave it to his mistress, Diane de Poitiers in 1547 and she made it her own. After Henry II's death, his widow, Catherine de Medici had her evicted! The Renaissance interiors have been well-preserved, with many original furnishings. Well worth a visit!

Rainy day…good time to catch up on my scrapbooking. I use that term with reluctance as it has gotten a bit of a bad wrap…maybe memory book would be better? I try to save as much ephemera as possible when I travel to enhance my albums. It's going to be a lazy, cozy day! Now if only it was snowing and there was a wood-burning fire…;)

I just discovered the work and talents of Helen Amy Murray, and am so amazed. A London-based textile designer, she sculpts floral designs into fabric, such as wool, suede, and leather. I especially love her damasks and peony patterns. She collaborated with Isu on these fabulous tub chairs for a private London residence…swoon.
