good mail day

DSC_0006

I love to write letters. I love to receive them even more! In this age of digital correspondence, there is something so special about finding a letter in the mailbox. I intend to do my part in keeping the art of letter writing alive, which is why I have joined the Letter Writers Alliance. I discovered it thanks to Lesley of Words and Eggs, and also had a very good mail day thanks to her as well! My husband thinks it might just be an excuse to support my stationary habit…and, well…he might be right.

houses & home

Foxhollow

Hampshire

Berwick

These three houses represent very formative years in my life. My Father was a Lt. Colonel in the Army, so we moved quite a bit, whether it was for his military career or professionally after he retired from the service. Needless to say we lived in many houses, and so the place I refer to most as home is Wyckoff, NJ, where my grandparent’s lived (the first photo). No matter where we were living at the time, when we arrived there, I was home. I can still hear the doorbell, smell the lawnmower in the garage, and feel the flocked wallpaper on the staircase. That home “housed” some of my most treasured memories, and it will always have a very special place in my heart. What does home mean to you?

mod louis

DWM Maloos

Louis XIV, Louis XV, whatever Louis…I will most likely love it.  I originally saw this settee in Nesting Newbies, and think it is just the coolest. The mix of the traditional, antique Louis with the mod lucite is so fresh. DWM Maloos is the company behind the re-defined, one-of-a-kind products…check out their website! I will continue to covet this and imagine all the interiors it would enhance.
