travel with me…
My mind is here…at the top of Mount Equinox, Vermont. I am dreaming of cool, crisp air, vibrant fall colors, apple cider and homemade donuts. I am ready and waiting for fall, and it can't come too soon for me…it's my favorite season. I spent a good portion of my childhood in New England, and there is nothing else like it in autumn. Sigh…
la vie en rose
I stumbled upon these the other day, done by letteria, a swiss artist who has a shop on etsy. I wish these were for sale right now, as I am a letterpress fanatic and would snatch these up. She also has a great flickr site showing her work. The message happens to be one of my favorite classic french songs, "La Vie En Rose", by the amazing Edith Piaf.

I live vicariously through fellow francophile Anne Ditmeyer’s blog, Prêt à Voyager. A graphic designer with a penchant for travel, she is living a fabulously creative + successful life in Paris! With a background in art history, photography, and anthropology, her posts are always a delight. My personal favorite is her Boarding Pass series, where she features fellow travelers. I’ve learned quite a bit more about Paris and have many new, exciting places to visit…merci Anne!

fleur cowles
Fleur Cowles…such an inspiration to me. First of all, what a name-unforgettable. Fleur had humble beginnings but grew to be the ultimate hostess, writer, publishing pioneer…spitfire. This woman walked to the beat of her own drum and others loved the sound. She found herself married to (many) powerful men, landed in London and became friends with (many) powerful people. I discovered her by finding a vintage copy of her magazine, Flair, and was so curious about the person behind the publication. It seemed so ahead of it's time for 1950, and that could have been why it folded after only twelve issues. Fleur never gave up, and continued to be one of the most connected and social beings until her death at the age of 101, last year. I greatly admire her unabashed bravado, eternal style, and "flair" for living.
